Our guide to living local

All of us at Arts House are super-passionate about the neighbourhood around us. We spend a lot of time exploring Errol St and the surrounding area and we hope you will too.

From popping out for a coffee at morning tea to feasting on a post-show meal, North Melbourne never lets us down. In case you haven’t spent much time this side of the city before, we have compiled a list of our favourite places to visit so you don’t have to take any chances.

Take it from us…

If you’re here in the daytime associate producer Kalyani recommends the second hand designer bags at  Martin Fella, while associate producer Samira’s tip for a 3pm pick-me-up are the chocolates at Jean Greenies.

Our production manager Tony suggests browsing vinyl at Heartland Records, and our business support officer Leah is a fan of the shoes at Radical Yes. Or business administrator Will reckons you should enter the crazy new world of board games at Spieledeluxe!

North Melbourne is brimming with ways to treat yourself, too: try the fougasse at Bread Club, says producer Olivia, and you’ll never look back.

If you’re looking for a pre-theatre meal our marketing manager Jackie recommends the Leveson on Leveson Street, but others have their own favourites: producer Sarah picks the tofu mushroom bowl at Affinity on Errol, business manager Brian opts for the decadent burgers at Salt.

Sharing a drink in the evening? Producer Tara enjoys a glass of wine at Westwood, while artistic director Emily loves pretending she’s in Tokyo and admiring a whisky at Summer’s Garden Bar.
