Spectacular is about the now of the performance moment, the trembling edge of laughter, possibility and invention. It’s about death and playing dead, about the strange contact between two performers on-stage and an audience caught between what they are watching and what they are being told.
Simple, logical, absurd, impossible and humorous by turns, Spectacular is Forced Entertainment’s proactive and playful new work.
Celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2009, Forced Entertainment has been hailed as Britain’s ‘most brilliant experimental theatre company’. This season of Spectacular at Arts House represents their first return to Melbourne since the Australian premiere of Bloody Mess at the 2005 Melbourne International Arts Festival.
