FRAME, Dance Massive and the end of an era

FRAME 2023 was an exciting pilot festival created through the collective capacity of local artists and partner organisations in Naarm. The dance sector values the existence and recognises the need for a biennial dance festival in Melbourne for artists, audiences and the dance sector.

FRAME created a template of how a revamped dance festival could work from 2023 onwards but, to maintain the principles and integrity the festival requires, is not replicable without additional resources or greater financial and human resource capacity within the partner organisations. The 2023 FRAME partners have agreed not to pursue a future edition of the festival.

This FRAME Program & Impact Report encapsulates the pilot efforts of that festival template, how we did it, and how it worked. The report reflects incredible collectivity, collegiality and gumption from the local dance sector.
