Breathing, shuddering, shaking and pulsing, Erotic Dance is a sensual duet between dancer, Luke George and sound artist, Nick Roux. Exploring the intimacy between performer and spectator, it suggests an experience of art that is primitive and seductive, arousing and visceral – one that appeals to magic and higher connection.

In 1961, Susan Sontag wrote, “we need an erotics of art”. George flirts with Sontag’s phrase, taking it to the letter to discover what ‘an erotic dance’ might be for audiences today. Clothed or naked, balletic, vibrating or still, George uses his dancing body to undress performance itself – intensely describing how space, knowledge and belief mingle to move us beyond what we see.
