A collective episode of mass hysteria, i might blow up someday slides between choreography, sound and live video with headbanging intensity.
Defiant, subversive and contagious, Hissy Fit’s surging multimedia spectacle remembers both the 19th-century’s institutionalised female ‘hysteric’ and nods – violently – towards the rock icons of 80s and 90s punk and metal.
Hissy Fit’s work tears at the edges of both deviancy and control, played out through the gendered body. Placing their own bodies under pressure, collaborators Jade Muratore, Emily O’Connor and Nat Randall test physical, mental and emotional limits, erupting from internally imposed constraint to furiously channel creative energy.
Risky, confronting and unpredictable, i might blow up someday rivetingly incites participation and release and perhaps a few hissy fits of our own.
