Using a digital road works sign, popular science and an imaginary dog called Jerry, Downtown attempts to illustrate how we effect and affect each other in public space.

Whilst in residence at Arts House, Rosie Dennis examines various corners of Melbourne, collecting anecdotes from strangers about the complex ways we interact with each other and the city.

Evolving over five consecutive evenings, Rosie recounts her observations and insights from her day. On the fifth evening, Rosie is joined on stage by a special guest for the final presentation of Melbourne’s unique edition of Downtown. Told with her trademark wry humour, Downtown is a made-to-measure performance for Melbourne.
